Overview
Smalley Circular-Grain Shims are coiled spacers commonly used with Wave Springs to adjust operating heights and spring loads. Adding or removing shims provides a simple and effective way to achieve desired load requirements while helping control tolerance stack-up within an assembly.
Often referred to as ring shims or round shims, they are also used as backup plates in applications with housings made from softer materials such as aluminum or bronze, as well as those using leather, neoprene, or similar packing materials. Standard parts are available in carbon steel and 17-7 PH stainless steel, with custom sizes and materials available to meet specific application requirements.
