Interlaced Wave Springs

Multiple Springs Combined for Higher Loads and Extended Travel in a Compact Design

Interlaced Wave Springs

Interlaced Wave Springs are engineered for applications requiring high loads and extended travel within a compact design. Formed by winding together multiple Crest-to-Crest® Wave Springs, they provide increased load capacity while maintaining medium-to-high deflection. Ideal for larger-diameter and demanding static applications, they are available as custom-engineered solutions.

  • High Load Capacity
Creates a thicker spring cross-section to support substantially higher loads.
  • Medium-to-High Travel
Provides ample working travel while maintaining a compact design.
  • Supports Larger Spring Designs
Well-suited for larger diameters and taller free heights in static applications.
  • Custom-Engineered Solution
Designed to meet specific application requirements with support from Smalley's engineering team.

Overview

Interlaced Wave Springs provide high loads and medium-to-high deflection. They are formed by winding two or three similar Crest-to-Crest® Wave Springs together so their turns line up in parallel, effectively creating a thicker spring cross-section.

This design enables significantly higher load capacity than a standard Crest-to-Crest Wave Spring while maintaining substantial working travel. Interlaced Wave Springs are commonly used in static applications where high force and medium-to-high deflection are required within a compact design envelope.

Interlaced Wave Springs are custom manufactured to meet specific application requirements. Smalley engineers work directly with customers to optimize spring performance based on load, deflection, and space constraints. They can be produced in carbon steel, stainless steel, and exotic alloys.
