Nestawave® Spring
Nestawave® Wave Springs combine the extended travel of a Crest-to-Crest® Wave Spring with the high force output of a Spirawave® Nested Spring. They provide adjustable spring rate design and consistent performance in a compact package. Available as custom-engineered solutions, they are an excellent alternative to stacks of Belleville washers.
- High Force with Significant Travel
Combines high load capacity and ample spring travel in a compact design
- Spring Rate Flexibility
Design can be optimized to achieve a wide range of spring rates and load requirements
- Consistent Load Properties
Produced from one continuous wire for more consistent and repeatable performance
- Replaces Belleville Washer Stacks
Eliminates stacking errors, reduces assembly labor, and lowers inventory by replacing multiple washers with a single component
Overview
Smalley’s Nestawave springs are nested wave springs in a Crest-to-Crest® configuration. Coiled from a single, continuous piece of wire, they offer flexibility in spring rate design. By combining the deflection characteristics of a Crest-to-Crest Wave Spring with the force output of a Spirawave® Nested Spring, the Nestawave delivers high force and significant travel in a compact design. Ideal for replacing stacks of Belleville disc springs, Nestawave springs reduce the risk of improper installation while simplifying assembly.
Nestawave springs are custom manufactured to your exact application requirements. Available in standard and exotic materials, they can be produced in diameters ranging from 0.250 to 20" and 6.5 to 510 mm with optional shim ends available.
Pairing the Deflection of a Crest-to-Crest® Wave Spring & Force of a Nested Wave Spring
Crest-to-Crest wave springs are flat wire compression springs designed to save space while delivering reliable force. With multiple waves per turn stacked in series, they offer greater deflection and lower spring rates in a compact axial form, reducing axial space requirements by up to 50% compared to traditional coil springs.
Nested Spirawave springs are manufactured with multiple turns coiled together in parallel to create a low-profile design that significantly increases force output while maintaining a compact overall height. This makes them ideal for applications requiring high load capacity in limited space.

Replacing Stacks of Belleville Washers
Smalley's Nestawave® springs are an efficient alternative to stacked Belleville disc washers. Combining high force output with significant travel in a single component, they simplify assembly, reduce installation time, and help prevent errors associated with stacking multiple washers. In many applications, a single Nestawave spring can replace a stack of up to 24 Belleville disc washers.
From aerospace and oil & gas to a wide range of industrial applications, Nestawave springs are specified for their high load capacity, flexible spring rates, and efficient use of space.
